(Colombo-Lankapuvath) President Mahinda Rajapaksa inaugurated the ambitious programme of establishing one million domestic economic units named as “Divi Neguma” (Livelihood Upliftment) scheme today (12) at the auspicious time. President planted a mango sapling to mark the inauguration of the programme.
The objective of the programme is to establish one million domestic economic units with priority given to cultivation of vegetables. It aims to create “A Self Reliant Household – A wonderful Motherland” and nearly 14,000 Grama Niladhari Divisions throughout the country will be benefited by this programme.
The programme will be implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development in coordination with several Ministries involved in development and production activities.
