(Colombo Lankapuvath) The 64th Independence Day celebrations is to commence in the historic city of Anuradhapura with the initiative of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The celebrations are held under the theme “Building a miracle Nation”. Prime Minister D M Jayarathne, other Government Ministers, Parliamentarians, Secretaries to Ministry are expected to attend the celebration. Accordingly over 580 state officials will grace the occasion as invitees.
55 disabled soldiers, 270 Senior officials of the Police, and three Security Forces along with religious leaders representing all religions will be present.
Apart from the main celebration religious observations representing all religions will be held in Anuradhapura at the respective religious places.
A large number of security persons and Police officers will be taking part in the occasion.
