(Colombo Lankapuvth) Measures are taken to develop the business community while enhancing the fisheries and agriculture sector, Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa said.
Laying the foundation stone for the 14 storied Jetwing Yall hotel in Jaffna, the Minister added, the end of the war was the greatest factor inspiring development in any country, province or village. Security forces contributed greatly towards the venture of eradicating terrorism.
Developing infrastructure and providing the people with the basic needs are now underway by the government, he added.
The government has already set aside a large sum for the development of the north including, electricity facilities, road and other basic needs, the Minister emphasized.
The construction of the hotel with 76 rooms is due to be completed at a cost of Rs 700 million within 18 months.
