LTTE ships still being used for illegal activities

alt(Colombo-Lankapuvath) At least 11 ships belongs to the LTTE have been destroyed by the armed forces with the assistance of the Air Force during the past said  Dinesh Gunawardena, the chief government whip minister yesterday (06) in Parliament in response to a question by UNP MP Gamini Jayawickrama Perera.

He also informed Parliament that 8 LTTE ships are still being used for various illegal activities. These are used by international net work of the LTTE. According to the intelligence reports some LTTE ships were berthed at a port of a South- East country and they are beyond repair for use he stated.

He revealed that, none of them had been registered under its name. The ships are registered under different names of international organizations. Therefore the government has encountered problems in taking legal actions and diplomatic actions due to the manner of registration.

Ministry of Defence has already taken steps to curb the LTTE activities overseas where remaining elements are still active he added.
