(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Nearly 7400 people of 2019 families were displaced by the prevailing floods in Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi, Mannar, Matale, Jaffna, Trincomalee and Nuwara Eliya districts and are now housed at 43 temporary camps, Disaster Management Centre said.
Also, 39778 people of 10518 families were affected by the heavy rains and floods.
Floods have caused major damage to Mulaitivu, Jaffna, Mannar and Kilinochchi districts.
The Disaster Management Centre further said that measures have been taken to provide the displaced people with dry rations and cooked food.
