JICA Renovates Irrigation and Jetty Facilities in Jaffna
(Colombo, Lankapuvath) - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has funded the Department of Agrarian Development (DAD) to renovate seven irrigation tanks that required urgent rehabilitation in the Jaffna district. JICA has also funded the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (DFAR) to renovate damaged fishing jetties in the district.

Northern Paddy Cultivation to boost national production
(Colombo Lankapuvath) A “wap Magul” ceremony was held at Ariyalai in Jaffna yesterday (28) with the participation of over 2000 farmers in the area.
The ceremony was held as a boost for the paddy cultivation of the northern region while Department of Agrarian Services made available 17 tractors whilst the Provincial Ministry of Agriculture provided 13 Tractors for this purpose.

This was revealed at the District Development Committee Review Meeting which was held at the District Secretariat, Jaffna yesterday (15) under the patronage of Minister of Economical Development and Chairman, Presidential Task Force for Development, Resettlement and Security in the Northern Province.
