SL troops capture the township of Ampalavanpokkani PDF Print E-mail

(Colombo Lankapuvath February 21) Troops of the 58 Division of the SL Army captured the entire Ampalavanpokkani area in Mullaittivu last afternoon (20).

According to the battlefield sources, troops of 10 SLLI (Sri Lanka Light Infantry) and 6 GW (Gamunu Watch) have crushed the last LTTE strongholds in the area in an offensive launched last morning.

In subsequent search operations troops recovered seven bodies of LTTE cadres along with five T-56 riffles.
Ampalavanpokkani is a remote village situated on the western banks of the Challai lagoon, about 8 km north of the Puthukkudiyiruppu junction.

Troops are now manoeuvring further south towards the northern borders of the Puthukkudiyiruppu built-up.
