03 journalists questioned for videoing president Rajapaksa’s sister’s private premises

(Colombo-Lankapuvath-September 03) Three journalists comprising staff journalist, a free lance photographer, a provincial reporter of  “Lanka Irida  ” newspaper were arrested by Deniyaya Police for entering the premises belonging to Mrs. Ranawaka unlawfully .

Speaking to Lankapuvath Deniyaya Police confirmed that  that the incident had taken place in the private premises of Mr.Thusitha  Ranawaka and Mrs.Ranawaka,  sister and brother-in-law of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Minister Chamal Rajapaksa ,Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa  ,Parliamentarian and Senior Presidential Advisor   Basil Rajapaksa and  a point  of concern of security of important political personalities.
Mr. Ranawka is a landed proprietor and planter.

The suspects in custody had resorted to videoing and photographing the said premises without permission which raised suspicion and alerted the security.

The residence of Mr .and Mrs.Ranwaka is situated near the Beverly Estate in Deniyaya.

Three journalists are Shalika Wimalasena,Daya Neththasinghe ,Ravindra Pushpakumara.

No one from the newspaper could be contacted for comment.
