(Colombo-Lankapuvath) President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared opened a new building of the Maharagama National Cancer Institute, yesterday (07). The building was donated by the president’s family in memory of his mother D.M Dissanayake and First Lady’s mother Violet Wickramasingha.
The new storied ward complex was funded by the Personal donations of Rajapaksha Family and philanthropists.
First Lady Shiranthi Rajapksa donated high-tech-equipment worth Rs. 65 million to the Institute recently facilitating cancer patients. Cancer patients had to spend over Rs.150 000 to get treatment from private hospitals before receiving this equipment to the Cancer Institute. Patients can now obtain free treatment from the National Cancer Institute.
United Nurses’ Association President Ven Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera, Health Minister Maitripala Sirisena and Labour Relations and Productivity Promotion Minister Gamini Lokuge were present on the occasion.

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) Seven new stamps and a first day cover were issued by the Posts and Telecommunications Ministry.
Minister of Posts and Telecommunication Jeewan Kumaratunga presented the stamps and the first day cover to President Mahinda Rajapaksha at Temple trees yesterday (07).
The aim of the issuing is to promote the Tourism Industry in the country.
Deputy Minister of Post and Telecommunication Duminda Dissanayake also presented at the occasion.

(Colombo-Lankapuvath) NSB ‘Hapan Shishshatwa Pranama 2010 was initiated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa, at Temple Trees yesterday (07).
The event was organized by National Savings bank to distribute scholarships for the students who passed the grade 5 scholarship exam 2009.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Chief Minister of Southern Province Mr.Shan Vijaylal de Silva, Me.Chandrasiri Gajadeera, Chairman NSB Mr. Pradeep Kariyawasam, and General Manager NSB Mr.Hennayake Bandara were also present on the occasion.

(Colombo Lankapuvath) A meeting presided by President Mahinda Rajapaksa is scheduled to be held this afternoon (06).
The meeting will be attended by Government Parliamentary members and they are to discuss about the 18th Constitutional Amendment which would be presented in Parliament on the 08th of September.
All Government Parliamentarians have been invited to join the discussion this evening. |

(Colombo Lankapuvath) The time when political statements were discarded is no longer there as the government has dedicated the last five years to fulfill the promises given to the Public said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The country is now on a path to success though the development projects of the government said President addressing the Chief incumbents of the Uva province and other members of the clergy.
The assistance and guidance of the Maha Sangha is greatly felt in the process of cultivating good nature and behavior in order to create a more virtuous society stated President Rajapaksa.
President also mentioned that the short comings in the Vihara and Devala act will be overcome while findings solutions for religious stability for the benefit of the religious institutes. |
